routine: regarding the downtime

no sooner than I post on Facebook about it, than DreamHost fixes things. whee.

they sent me the following cryptic response. enjoy:

DreamHost said:
I'm really sorry about that. There was a misconfiguration on your server
that a restart wouldn't get past. I had an admin take care of that so
your apache server could properly restart. It's back up at this time

broadcast: did I mention that I'm lame?

it's true! that's why there will be no broadcast today. a sad truth. I'm hoping you will all survive, and accept my addition of Arugula to PsyPets as an apology.

actually, I haven't added Arugula to PsyPets yet, because I can't draw the graphic: I am not at home where I have the graphics program I use. (which is why I also don't have the software necessary for doing a broadcast today.) however, I would like to add Arugula to PsyPets when I get back in a couple days

look forward to next week's broadcast. I know I will!

routine: did you see?

the current poll on the top of the city hall, so people will alllllways see it

also, I made an Encyclopedia change... I noticed people had put together a list of the items which can be donated to the museum, and posted it to the wiki.

OH GOD.

how much work was that?

I've changed the Encyclopedia so you can filter a search by item availability. custom, limited, etc, etc, any combination, bla-bla. note that the item's name is optional! you can leave the item name field blank, uncheck everything but "standard", and viola: a list of all the items you can donate to the Museum. (though this list has extra stuff on it that may not make it as good for copy-pasting, this feature should be useful anyway )

P.S. I am too lazy to find the key combination for the accented letters that should be in "viola", and besides, I always forget which letters get accented anyway.

my dad's gonna be in the D.C. area for work. he lives faaarrrr away, so I'll be taking the opportunity to see him, to the exclusion of the PsyPets broadcast (and my other usual weekendly events, like D&D).

sorry. you'll just have to wait 'til next week to hear my lovely, enchanting voice. (that is why you guys listen, right?)

routine: several items that should not have been givable to The Museum...

The Traveller put together a (mostly) good list of items that the museum should not accept (including Text Adventure Games - how did I miss marking those as monthly?)

I say "mostly", because he thinks it's not necessarily cool for it to accept Fertility Draughts and Storage Boxes, but since those items are theoretically available to anyone and everyone through normal game means, the museum will certainly accept those

Several people had donated a few items from the list to The Museum - those items have been returned to their donators - find them in Incoming. I've also run a little script to recount everyone's donation... count. So a few of you will have lost a few. In the rare event that this dropped someone from above 1000 to below, or above 100 to below, your badge has not been taken from you

anyway, if reading the title of this post made you go "oh yeah! that's today, isn't it?!" then you should probably head over toooo... Display Settings, and toggle the "Daylight Savings" box sometime before, what, 2am tonight or something?
