This lance was the unexpected source of controversy when famous jouster Sir Benerew of Marsesica was misheard as accusing his opponent of being crooked (in means, not appearance, though it so happened that his opponent at the time was none other than the infamously-crooked-nosed Sir Edwardus Powgwene), when in fact he was merely referring to his opponent's weapon of choice.
