Duct Tape was developed during World War II as a waterproof seal for ammunition cases, and called "Duck Tape" because of the way it repelled water. After the war, the housing industry boomed, and Duck Tape was widely used to repair heating and air conditioner ducts, hence the name, "Duct Tape".
